Ada’s Farmers and Merchants Picnic canceled
FROM Ada Icon - Ada’s oldest and longest-running festival, Farmers and Merchants Picnic will take this year off. The parade and other parts of the picnic are also canceled.
It’s another local victim of the covid-19 virus.
Instead, the Farmers and Merchants planning committee will hold a raffle with at least four major prizes, according to Eva Wolke. Those prizes range from a smoker grill and Keystone Meats gift card to a Kahili trip, a television and a firepit.
Complete details on the raffle will be on the Ada Icon next week as will ticket prices and locations where tickets are available.
Wolke said that the drawing will take place on Saturday, Aug. 8, the date that the F&M Picnic was originally scheduled.
This was to be the 107th picnic, which always takes place on the second Saturday of August at the Ada park.
A decision is yet to be made on the fate of the tractor pull, traditionally held during picnic weekend.
The picnic joins other events in Ada that take the year off including the Made in Wilson Football Festival and Harvest and Herb Festival.
A decision on the VFW cruise in has yet to be made. The Lima Symphony patriotic pops concert is moved from early July until Labor Day.
