Planning commission considering rezoning proposal
The Bluffton village planning commission will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m., Thursday, July 16, to consider a proposed zoning reclassification, according to Jesse Blackburn, village administrator.
Held in the third floor of the town hall, 154 N. Main St., the hearing will consider rezoning of four parcels. These parcels are currently zoned Residential I (R-I). The hearing's intention, according to Blackburn, is to rezone them Industrial II (I-II).
The properties in question are outlined in red on the accompanying map. They include property housing an AEP substation, a grain elevator, former Riley Creek Mercantile and former Steinman Lumber yard out buildings.
The properties touch Jefferson Street, lie between the railroad and Riley Creek, and cross Cherry Street halfway to College Avenue.
Blackburn told the Icon that the reclassification is an intention to clean up zoning that has become outdated.
