Lady Pirate netters whip Spartans

LIMA - The visiting Bluffton girls tennis team whipped Lima Senior 5-0 Saturday morning.
The shutout win upped the Lady Pirate record to 2-4. Bluffton won easily without dropping a set.
Senior Julia Smallcombe triumphed at first singles 6-1, 6-1.
Bluffton senior Olivia Barnes easily won her second singles match 6-1, 6-0.
Classmate Pearl Lewandowski also cruised to victory at third singles 6-1, 6-2.
The Bluffton junior duo of Libby Frazier and Ellie Nickel also won handily 6-0, 6-2 at first doubles.
The number two doubles duo of freshman Caitlyn Couch and junior Ellison Pugsley won by forfeit.
Bluffton's next dual match is Monday, August 31 at Fostoria at 4:30 p.m.
Lady Pirate kickers fall to Bath
BATH - The Bluffton girls soccer team lost 3-0 at Bath Saturday.
The defeat dropped the Lady Pirates to 0-2 on the young season.
Bath's Chandler Clark scored in the 10th minute and again in the 39th minute to give the hosts a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Alexis Hammons added the final goal six minutes into the second half.
Bath put 14 of its shots on goal. Bluffton got off six shots, two of which were on goal.
Bath keeper Madelyn Renner made a pair of saves while Pirate goalie Julia Mehaffie was credited with six stops.
Bluffton hosts Spencerville in the NWC league opener Monday, August 31.
