7-2 Bluffton spikers open NWC play with win

DELPHOS - The visiting Bluffton volleyball team served up a sweep over Delphos Jefferson in the Northwest Conference season opener Tuesday night.
Bluffton improved to 7-2 overall and 1-0 in the NWC with their fifth consecutive win. DJ fell to 4-1 and 0-1 in league play with the 25-9, 25-15, 25-16 defeat.
Athletic Kylie Stackhouse led the Pirate girls with 19 kills and one block. Versatile Taylor Schwab amassed 11 kills, 12 digs and five aces.
Haelynn Bischoff also contributed four kills.
Setter Skyler Scoles dished out 39 assists and served up two aces to spark the offense. Kylie Monday hustled up 17 digs and dealt a pair of aces.
The Pirate junior varsity lost, 2-0.
Bluffton is now 5-1 on the road this season
Bluffton (2-1 home) hosts local rival Ada (4-3, 0-1 NWC) Thursday night in another key early-season league encounter.
Ada lost a 3-2 thriller to visiting Columbus Grove after holding a 2-0 lead Tuesday night in their NWC opener.
