Bluffton revises football schedule
By Cort Reynolds
BLUFFTON - The Bluffton athletic department released a revised schedule for the 2020 varsity football program this week.
A minimum of five more games are scheduled, including the post-season.
The Pirates (1-2) will host winless Northwest Conference rival Delphos Jefferson (0-4) Friday, September 25 for Homecoming.
On Friday, October 2, they will play at NWC foe Paulding (1-3).
Bluffton then plans to compete in the first round of the state playoff tournament Friday, October 9. Every team is eligible to play in the tourney this year, and coaches in each region will vote for seeding and pairings yet to be determined.
Playoff games will be held at the site of the higher-seeded team at least through regionals.
If the Pirates lose in round one, they will have a bye week Oct. 16. If they win, they would advance to the second round and play Friday, Oct. 16 against an opponent TBA.
If they do not advance past round two of the post-season, Bluffton will then finish the season with two games against Blanchard Valley Conference foes.
First, they would host Leipsic (2-2) Friday, Oct. 23 in the home finale. The Pirates are then scheduled to play at local non-league rival Cory-Rawson (0-4) Friday, Oct. 30 in the finale of the turbulent season.
"There are still a lot of unknowns starting October 9," noted Bluffton High School athletic director Alex Hanna.
