Council close to adopting an animal ordinance
Once upon a time nearly every household in Bluffton had a horse, possibly a cow and perhaps chickens.
These were animals serving an important function including travel and food. Those days are gone and it is doubtful they will return.
However, some animals as pets, other than dogs and cats, are appearing within the village limits.
Bluffton has few legal animal regulations other than dogs must be on leashes.
However, over the past 18 months, council has discussed and reviewed several ordinances from other communities addressing animal regulations inside a village or city.
Bluffton council’s Ordinance 12-2020 is a step toward addressing the issue. Attached is wording of an ordinance passed twice by council in November.
It is possible that changes may occur prior to the final reading anticipated in December.
