John M. Symonds II 1963 - 2021
John M. Symonds II died Jan. 16, 2021, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
John was born on April 27, 1963, to John M. Symonds I and Barbara (Wolfe) Symonds. His mother survives in Troy, Ohio. John is survived by three children, Brittany (Kenny) Owens, Wesley Symonds, and Eric (Kara) Layman.
On Dec. 29, 2013, he married Rebecca (McCune) who survives in Lima.
John graduated from Wapakoneta High School in 1982. He studied at Lima Technical College and has spent most of his life managing restaurants.
John is also survived by two sisters, Melanie Haggard and Linda (Bob) Deal; one brother, Keith Symonds (Chris Pearson Morris); step-children, Rachel (Eric) Schearer, Holly (Sean) Goodwin and Erin (Matthew) Otto; 10 grandchildren, Olivia, Kenley and Kaleb Owens; Theodore Layman; Dakota Pohlman, Julianne Badertscher, Chase Otto, Abigail and Morgan Schearer, and Olivia Goodwin. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will take place Thursday, Jan. 21, at 6:30 p.m at the Chiles-Laman Funeral Home Shawnee Chapel with Rev. Bev Hurlburt officiating. There will be a public visitation from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton, on Friday, Jan. 22 at 1 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the Autism Society of America, The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, The Allen County Humane Society or The Wounded Warrior Project.
