Bluffton swimmers win quad over Ada, Botkins, Sidney Lehman
Bluffton Swim Team wins quad meet with Ada, Botkins and Lehman Catholic
The Bluffton swim team hosted a quad meet with Ada, Botkins and Lehman Catholic on Jan. 15 at the Lima YMCA.
Landon Armstrong finished with a second place in the 200 meter medley relay, second place in the 200 meter individual medley, second place in the 200 meter freestyle relay, and won the 100 meter breaststroke with a time of 1:12:13.
Simon Derstine finished with a second place in the 200 meter medley relay, third place in the 200 meter freestyle relay, second place in the 100 meter breaststroke, and won the 400 meter freestyle relay with a time of 4:21:41.
Ellie Hoffman finished with a first place in the 200 meter medley relay, fourth place in the 50 meter freestyle, and won the 100 meter breaststroke with a time of 1:19:47 along with another victory in the 400 meter freestyle relay.
CJ McCall finished with a second place in the 200 meter medley relay, won the 100 meter butterfly with a time of 1:08:62, second place in the 200 meter freestyle relay, and second place in the 400 meter freestyle relay.
Allison Diller finished with a first place in the 200 meter medley relay, won the 200 meter individual medley with a time of 2:31:83, fourth place in the 200 meter freestyle relay, and first place in the 400 meter freestyle relay.
Riley Verb finished with a second place in the 200 meter medley relay, won the 200 meter freestyle with a time of 1:58:30, won the 100 meter backstroke with time of 57:23, along with another victory in the 400 meter freestyle relay.
The Bluffton boys outscored Ada 75 to 4, outscored Botkins 49 to 34, and outscored Lehman Catholic 70 to 9.
The girls races were evenly matched, and the Bluffton girls prevailed by outscoring Ada 46 to 30, outscoring Botkins 44 to 37, and outscored Lehman Catholic 47 to 42.
Next up for the Bluffton swim team is a quad meet with Bath, Marion Local and Lima Central Catholic on Friday, Jan. 22, at the Lima YMCA.
The following student athletes competed for Bluffton: seniors Olivia Barnes, Andrea Bourassa, Simon Derstine, Ellie Hoffman, and Celia Smith, sophomores Landon Armstrong, Sam Derstine, Allison Diller, Nolan Hoffman, CJ McCall, Erik Nygaard and Riley Verb, and freshmen Ella Armstrong, Tyler Cupples, Jacob Lehman, and Izzy Stechschulte.
