This short month is long on activities at the library

Plus, tax forms available - just ask

February's a short month but it's long on activities planned at the Bluffton Public Library. Here's program schedule highlights:

Events and Programs
Bluffton Public Library Postcard Penpals (​Readers advisory for PreK-12th Grade):​ Not sure what to read next? We are here to help. ​Email Youth Services ([email protected]) the following information: name and address (for library use only), age, grade, and favorite book. Your child will receive a postcard of ideas for their next read.

Ask a Librarian on Thursdays from 12-1 p.m.: ​Our staff are available to help anyone needing assistance accessing our resources online. Please take advantage of our live #askalibrarian chats on the library’s Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Patrons may also ask research questions or for book recommendations.

The library continues ​The Book Bag - A Library Subscription Service​. The program allows community members to request a monthly themed or specially curated bag of items from the library collection along with an activity.

The Book Bag checks out for four weeks, with new bags being automatically prepared for pickup the next month. If you haven't registered yet, no problem. We still have some space.

Noon Book Group via Zoom​ meets ​Feb. 3​ to discuss ​The Nickel Boys​ by Colson Whitehead. The March book will be ​A Woman is No Man​ by Etaf Rum. Patrons may check out a Book Group Book Bundle containing the upcoming discussion titles through April. Meetings are the first Wednesdays of each month at noon! Origami Live!: ​Mai Hirashita, Japanese Outreach Initiative (JOI) Coordinator for BGSU, will lead us in another live teaching session of origami on ​Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m.​! This program is open to all ages and will take place via Zoom. Receive an origami paper Take & Make kit through Curbside Pickup starting ​Feb. 2​ and don’t forget to email [email protected] to register and receive the Zoom link.

Zoom Pancake Storytime​ on ​Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 4 p.m.:​ Join Mrs. Esther and Bernie via Zoom to enjoy some fun pancake stories and songs. Call to register in advance to receive the Zoom meeting details.

Mobile Health Clinic: Friday, Feb. 26, from 9:30-11:30 a.m.​ All services are provided by individuals with the Ohio Northern University Healthwise program. This clinic includes free screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol (please fast for 12 hours to participate in cholesterol or blood sugar screening). Participants may speak with ONU Healthwise students and staff about their results or concerns, and even receive referrals to area doctors.

“Take & Make” Activity Kits

Painting with Water Take & Makes:​ Pages from L​ove is Like a Rainbow: A Magical Paper Painting Book of Loving Affirmations​ will be available for pickup starting ​Feb. 1.​ Each kit consists of one paint page and a paintbrush. Call or visit the library's website to request. ​Open to adults and teens.

Book Page Wreath Take & Make:​ ​Starting Feb. 1​ you may pick up a kit to create your very own Book Page Wreath. Kit will contain 1 old book, 1 wire hanger (courtesy of Et Cetera Shop) and instructions. Please call or fill out the Curbside Pickup form on our website to request. ​Open to all ages; children will need supervision/assistance.

Book Page Banner Take & Make:​ ​Starting Feb. 1​ you may pick up a kit to create your very own Book Page Banner. Kit will contain old book pages, string, and instructions. You will need to provide coloring supplies and glue, tape, or staples. Please call or fill out Curbside Pickup form on our website to request. ​Open to all ages.

Share the Love Take & Make Craft​ will be available​ starting February 8th ​and while supplies last. Children (PreK-5th grade) are invited to make a lovable animal magnet, and give it to a neighbor or friend. Kits are available via Curbside Pickup.

The library has the following tax publications available for pickup via Curbside Pickup:
● Ohio 2020 Instructions Only​ for Filing Original and Amended Individual Income Tax (IT 1040) and School District Income Tax (SD 100)

● Federal 2020 1040 and 1040-SR Forms Booklet ​Including Schedules 1 through 3 and Schedule LEP

Fill out the form at Blufftonpubliclibrary.org/pickup or call the library to schedule your tax publication pickup and make sure to specify which of the two (or both) that you wish to receive.

Quantities are limited. Library staff are unaware if or when they will receive state or school district income tax forms. Patrons may access these forms online (or file electronically) at tax.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/tax/individual/get-a-form​.

Additionally, Village of Bluffton Income Tax Forms may be accessed through the village website at ​bluffton-ohio.com/income-tax​.

Library open for curbside pickup only
The health and safety of our patrons and staff at the Bluffton Public Library is a top priority and the library is working hard to keep services available. At the time of this press release, the library is open for Curbside Pickup only. The library will review services and update as needed so be sure to check blufftonpubliclibrary.org/covid19​ for current services updates.

Curbside Pickup hours are:
●  Mondays -Thursdays: 10 a.m.-7 p.m.
●  Fridays: 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
●  Saturdays: 10 a.m-1 p.m.

Patrons may schedule a pickup by filling out the online form at ​www.blufftonpubliclibrary.org/pickup​ or by calling the library during Curbside hours. For more information about these services, email [email protected]​ or call the library at 419-358-5016.
