Tim Closson will retire as elementary principal in June
Tim Closson, a fixture in Bluffton schools and currently Bluffton elementary principal, has announced his retirement effective June 30.
Closson, who attended school in Bluffton all 12 years – including fifth to eighth grade in Beaverdam - and graduated in 1979, has served as Bluffton elementary principal for 14 years.
He also graduated from Bluffton College, where he majored in business and education.
Prior to being hired as elementary principal at Bluffton, he was employed in Ada, Shawnee and Wayne Trace school systems.
During Closson tenure Bluffton elementary school receive the U.S. Department of Education National Blue Ribbon Award. Bluffton elementary was one of only 16 schools in Ohio to receive the award.
Only 349 schools (300 public, 49 private) nationwide received the award out of 130,000 schools in the United States. The award is for Exemplary High Performing achievement on assessments.
Action on his retirement will be one of several actions on Monday’s Bluffton school board agenda.
Also on Monday's agenda, the board will offer Jamie Mehaffie a supplemental contract for 2021-21 as head girls’ soccer coach. He will replace Jared Byers, who resigned at the conclusion of the 2020 season.
