Cathy Leis had worked as a camera operator at WLIO
Catherine "Cathy" Jeanne Leis, 61, died March 29, 2021, at Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy, Ohio. Cathy was born Nov. 7, 1959, in Lima to the late Richard and Caroline (Pruitt) Hunter.
Cathy was a graduate of Elida High School where she was active in FFA and band. She obtained her associate's degree from Ohio State University - Lima and her bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University. Cathy had worked as a camera operator at WLIO News – Lima, part-time in the audio/visual department at the Ohio State University – Lima and later in the audio/visual department at Lima Memorial Hospital.
She was an active member of English Lutheran Church, Bluffton, where she sang in the choir. Cathy also was a member of the Bluffton Senior Center. She played tuba in concert bands and the Salvation Army Band. Cathy participated in the Cleveland Marathon and GOBA.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Barnes of Indiana; a grandson, Colton Barnes; two sisters, Denise Hunter of Lima, Melanie (Ronald) Johnson of Bascom and a brother, Michael (Jennifer) Hunter of Akron.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 7, at English Lutheran Church. Pastor Kevin Mohr officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to English Lutheran Church or the Bluffton Senior Center.
