Roughriders take two from Lady Pirates

BLUFFTON - Visiting St. Marys swept a non-league aoftball twinbill from Bluffton team Saturday.
The Lady Pirates fell to 0-4 with the 2-1 and 9-5 defeats, while SM improved to 3-1.
In game one, the Roughriders plated single runs in each of the first two innings and made them stand up in the tight 2-1 win.
Ashley Fleece singled home the lone Bluffton run in their last at bat as the Pirates rallied late, only to come up just short. Kennedi Jordan collected the other Pirate hit.
Pirate pitcher Grace Myers hurled a complete-game six-hitter to suffer the tough loss.
The visitors out-hit Bluffton in the opener, 6-2. Winning pitcher Karsyn McGlothen hit a solo home run, doubled and singled while hurling a two-hitter.

In the nightcap, Bluffton scored three first-inning runs to take an early 3-1 lead.
But SM rallied with five runs in the second inning, and then tallied three more scores in the third. The Pirates answered with two runs in the fourth, but came up shy in the shortened five-inning contest.
Pirate Dyllan Worcester doubled and singled with one RBI. Addie Businger added a two-run single. Losing pitcher Fleece and Jordan each contributed Bluffton singles.
The Pirates out-hit the Roughriders 9-8 in the second game.
Lily Steinberg doubled and singled to amass two RBI and lead the victors. Renee Sweigart contributed two hits and two runs batted in. Kiley Tennant compiled a pair of hits for the Roughriders.

The Lady Pirate game at Ottawa-Glandorf (0-3) last Thursday was postponed due to the cold.
The Pirate girls are slated to play at Elida (1-2) Monday, April 5.
Bluffton's Northwest Conference opener is set for Thursday, April 8 at Delphos Jefferson (0-5).
