Cory-Rawson stops Pirates

BLUFFTON - Bluffton's scheduled non-conference softball game vs. Cory-Rawson was postponed Tuesday evening.
Low Hornet roster numbers due to injury and illness caused the cancellation, and the game will not be made up.
Bluffton (3-10, 2-4 Northwest Conference) resumes league play Thursday at Columbus Grove (8-7, 1-3 NWC). Grove crushed Continental 17-1 Tuesday evening.
The Pirate girls then host future NWC member Leipsic (7-5) Friday, April 30 and visit Arlington (3-9) for a non-league doubleheader Saturday, May 1.
Pirate boys lose slugfest to Cory
BLUFFTON - The homestanding Bluffton baseball team lost 15-6 to Cory-Rawson Tuesday evening in a non-conference game.
The Pirates dropped to 0-15 with the defeat. The Hornet boys improved to 4-9 with the victory.
Bluffton banged out 14 hits in the loss, while C-R collected 16 hits, including five doubles.
Pirate freshman Garret Bogart collected three hits and two runs batted in. Braeden Jordan scored two runs and had two hits.
Freshman Gavin Bogart compiled two hits. Frosh pitcher Daniel Friedritz scored a run and hit two singles. Senior Adam Fredritz added a pair of hits and one run batted in. Freshman Kerry Wright hit a two-run single, while senior Tyson Shutler stole two bases.
C-R scored three runs in the second inning and four more in the top of the third to grab a 7-0 lead. The Pirates fought back with four runs in the home fourth to edge within 8-5.
But the Hornets put the game away with four scores in the sixth frame, and three more runs in the seventh for a 10-run lead. The Pirates tacked on one more run in the home seventh.

Bluffton (0-6 NWC) returns to league play Thursday at Columbus Grove (6-7, 3-2 NWC). CG beat PCL foe Continenatal 5-2 Tuesday evening.
The Pirates are slated to visit Arlington (6-5) for a non-league doubleheader Saturday, May 1.
