1st places for Lovell, Boblitt, Scoles, Tabler in track

HARROD - The Bluffton boys track and field team finished third at the Allen East quadrangular meet Tuesday afternoon.

Columbus Grove took first in both the boys and girls standings. The Pirate girls ended up fourth.

Pirates Wyatt Lovell and Trey Boblitt tied for first in the high jump.

Lady Pirate Brianna Tabler took first in the pole vault, and teammate Sami Scoles captured the girls 1600-meter run.

BASEBALL: Pirates shut out by Falcons
MT. BLANCHARD - The Bluffton baseball team lost 18-0 to Riverdale  in a non-league, run-rule shortened game Tuesday evening.

The Pirates fell to 0-18 on the season with the five-inning shutout loss. The contest was slated to be at Bluffton, but was moved because of wet playing fields to Riverdale.

Bluffton hosts Perry Wednesday, May 5, then plays at LCC Thursday. 

Monday's postponed league game at home vs. local rival Allen East (15-6, 3-2 NWC) is rescheduled for Friday, May 7.

Bluffton (0-6 NWC) also plays a makeup league game at Columbus Grove May 12.

SOFTBALL: Falcons blank Pirate girls
MT. BLANCHARD - The Bluffton softball team lost to Riverdale Tuesday evening in a non-league contest.

The Lady Pirates fell to 4-12 with the defeat. Bluffton was the home team on the scoreboard but the game was played at Riverdale due to wet fields.

The Falcon girls scored once in the first inning and one more in the third frame.

Riverdale then put the game out of reach with a four-run sixth inning.

Bluffton hurler Grace Myers batted 1-3, as did teammates Kennedy Jordan and Ashley Fleece.

The Pirate girls were out-hit by the Falcons, 13-3. Bluffton committed three errors and Riverdale made one miscue.

Brenna Farmer hit a double and a triple to help pace Riverdale. Alyssa McCloud doubled, hit two singles and drove in two runs.

Winning pitcher Alison Donaugh drove home a run on two singles. Alyson Greer contributed a triple and a single for the Falcons.

Bluffton visits former league rival LCC Thursday, May 6.

The Pirates (2-5 NWC) will make up Monday's postponed league bout vs. backyard rival Allen East (11-8, 2-3 NWC) Friday, May 7.
