Pirate boys shut out by Wildcats

VANLUE - The visiting Bluffton baseball team lost 9-0 to local non-league foe Vanlue in a makeup shutout Tuesday evening.
The loss dropped the Pirate record to 0-22 this spring. Vanlue improved to 3-13 with the win.
Vanlue out-hit Bluffton, 9-2.
Freshman Jacob Granger singled and senior Nic Essinger added a single to provide the two Bluffton hits.
Freshman Braeden Jordan started and pitched four innings for the Pirates. He struck out six and allowed eight hits. He also stole a base.
Sophomore Jared Coonfare pitched the last two innings in relief, and allowed one hit with no earned runs.
Bluffton left seven runners on base compared to five stranded by Vanlue. Eight Pirates struck out. Vanlue swiped six bases.

Bluffton (0-7 NWC) plays a makeup league game at Columbus Grove (8-10, 4-3 NWC) Wednesday, May 12 in the Pirate conference finale. CG lost 11-1 to Kalida Tuesday.
