Pirate girls rout Red Devils

ARLINGTON - The visiting Bluffton softball team romped past Arlington 17-2 in a non-league makeup contest under the lights Friday evening.
The Lady Pirates improved to 9-14 with the blowout win. Arlington fell to 3-14 after the defeat.
Bluffton tallied seven runs in the top of the third inning to break open a scoreless contest. The Pirates added four more runs in the fourth to build an 11-0 cushion.
Arlington scored its only runs in the home fourth. But the Pirates pushed six more runs across the plate in the fifth to enact the 10-run rule.
Bluffton hurler Hannah Davis improved to 4-5 with the win as she scattered four hits. She also helped herself with a run-scoring triple.
Grace Myers doubled, hit a single and drove in four runs to pace the Pirate offense. Kennedy Jordan smacked three singles and collected two RBI.
Sophie Bricker tripled in two runs and singled. Lauren Swartzlander singled two times and drove in one run.
Riley Busch, Rebekah Hoff and Dyllan Worcester each compiled a single and an RBI for the victors.
Bluffton out-hit Arlington 13-4 and did not commit an error. Arlington was guilty of four miscues.
Jenny Helms led the Red Devil girls with an RBI double. Adrian Below also singled home a run. Maddy Russell and Jenna Stoltz added the other Arlington singles.
