Dan Luginbuhl receives Angelopoulos Award

Award represents sportsmanship and sponsorship • BHS grad was longtime publicist of Roger Penske's racing team

Bluffton native Dan Luginbuhl is recipient of this year’s Angelo Angelopoulos Award, according to an announcement in Speed Sport magazine.

“Angelo was the sports feature writer at the Indianapolis News, who really loved the 500-Mile Race and the drivers,’ said Luginbuhl. “I’m humbled to be included on the memorial trophy that resides at the Speedway since 1963.”

Luginbuhl was a longtime publicist of Roger Penske’s racing team from its early days in the 1960s until he retired in the early 2000s.

The award represents sportsmanship and sponsorship.

In 2019 Luginbuhl, a 1963 Bluffton High School graduate, was inducted into the Team Penske Hall of Fame.  His sister is Becky Cox of Bluffton.
