George McCune was in the U.S. Navy
George B. McCune, 92, passed away on July 8, 2021, at 4:09 am, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, surrounded by his loving family, which is also the 26th anniversary of his grandson Cory's passing.
George was born August 31, 1928 in McFadden, WY, to H. Burdett and Geneva (Burkholder) McCune who both preceded him in death. On June 23, 1950 he married Sara (Bracy) McCune who survives in Bluffton, OH.
George enlisted into the United States Navy in 1945 and was honorable discharged in 1947. He worked as a stationary engineer at RCA and retired after thirty three years of service. George and his wife have been members at St. John's United Church of Christ for over thirty years. He enjoyed fishing, ballroom dancing and playing cards at the Legion. George loved his family dearly and cherished spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
George is survived by his wife, Sara McCune of Pandora, OH, children, Stephanie (William "Bill") Amstutz of Bluffton, OH, Beverly (Gregory) Ricker of Pandora, OH, George "Brian" (Kathyrn) McCune of Hudson, OH.
Grandchildren, Jason (Nicolette) Amstutz of Huntington Beach, CA, Angela (Tony) Diemel of Salem, VA, Ashley Weber of Boulder, CO, Samantha (Dan) Riley of San Rafael, CA, Brandy Ricker of Chicago, IL, Emily (Greg) Katzman of Hampstead, NC, Abbey (Brad) Kordel of Lakewood, OH.
Great-grandchildren, Billie and Tullah Amstutz, Cameron and Sarah Hash, Miles, Quinley and Dean Weber, Laila, Harper and Iris Riley, Carter and Nolan Katzman, and a brother, John McCune of King City, CA.
He is preceded in death by his fisherman pal grandson, Cory Ricker, siblings, Joe (Gladys) McCune, sister, Madalene (Weldon) Deppler and sister-in-law, Margaret McCune.
A Memorial Services will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021 11:00am at CHILES - LAMAN FUNERAL HOMES, BLUFFTON CHAPEL. Pastor Geoffrey Eubank to officiate the service.
A private burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, with military honors provided by the United States Navy.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 12, 2021 from 10:00am to 11:00am at the BLUFFTON CHAPEL.
