Mary Schechter was a member of English Lutheran Church
Mary M. Schechter, 97, passed away August 5, 2021 at Willow Ridge - Betty House in Bluffton.
Mary was born September 21, 1923 in Alliance, Ohio to the late William "Wink" and Mabel (Wood) Worley. On August 11, 1943 she married Carlyle Schechter who preceded her in death on December 6, 1990.
Mary was a graduate of Highland Park High School in Highland Park, Michigan. She had worked numerous positions at various employers. Mary was a member of English Lutheran Church, Bluffton. She enjoyed playing bridge, various board games and participating in the Learning in Retirement Classes at Bluffton University. Mary will always be remembered by her painted portrait on the mural painted in Bluffton.
Survivors include a son, Mark (Theresa) Schechter of Ottawa; a daughter, Susan (Leonard) Stark of Roswell, Georgia; four grandchildren, Paul (Lynne) Stark, Brian (Angie) Stark, Denice (Steven) Ventura, Matthew (April) Schechter; ten great-grandchildren and a brother, Bill (Ellen) Worley of Gladwin, Michigan.
Mary was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee "Bud" Worley and Sam Worley and two sisters, Martha Bakke and Edna Turner.
Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at the English Lutheran Church, Bluffton. Pastor Brian Stark officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the English Lutheran Church or Bridge Home Health and Hospice.
