O-G girl kickers take down Pirates

The Ottawa-Glandorf girls soccer team defeated visiting Bluffton 6-1 in the Lady Pirate opener Wednesday evening.
O-G improved to 2-0 with the win, while Bluffton starts out 0-1.
Bluffton's Allison Diller scored the lone Lady Pirate goal in the 69th minute on a Sami Scoles assist to avoid a shutout.
Ottawa-Glandorf's Mackenzie Recker tallied twice. She opened the scoring in the fourth minute, and tacked on the last Titan goal in the 68th minute.
Teammate Myka Aldrich made it 2-0 with a fifth-minute goal, and she added another score in the 53rd minute.
Kaelyn Grothhause (62nd) and Makenna Siefker (66th) netted the other O-G scores.
Bluffton put five of its 10 shots on goal. Ottawa-Glandorf booted 16 of its 23 shots on target.
Pirate keeper Julia Mehaffie was credited with 10 saves.
Bluffton hosts Bath (0-2) Saturday, August 28 at noon on the Steinmetz Field pitch in the Pirate home opener.
The defending league champion Pirates then entertain Northwest Conference foe Spencerville Monday, August 30 at 6:45 p.m.
