Bluffton girls joust Knights
The host Bluffton girls soccer team dominated Northwest Conference foe Crestview 10-1 Tuesday night, September 7, at Steinmetz Field.
The Lady Pirate kickers improved to 4-2 and 2-0 in the NWC after the lopsided league victory. The Lady Knights fell to 3-2 (0-1 NWC) with the defeat.
Allison Diller netted four goals to pace the offensive onslaught. Reagan Mittendorf and Jordan Schweingruber each tallied a pair of scores.
Schweingruber scored the first goal four minutes into the fray. Diller made it 2-0 with a goal in the 11th minute off a Sami Scoles assist.
Four minutes later, Diller scored again. Makayla Schweingruber found the back of the net in the 19th minute off a second Scoles assist to provide a 4-0 cushion.
A minute later, Jordyn O'Connel tallied an unassisted goal to make it 5-0.
Diller already achieved a hat trick in the 27th minute via an O'Connel feed. Mittendorf then scored in the 29th minute off a Riley Eachus pass.
Mittendorf advanced the lead to 8-0 at halftime with her second score in the 36th minute.
Diller netted her fourth goal just over six minutes into the second half on a Mittendorf assist.
Jordan Schweingruber tallied her second goal in the 50th minute to make it 10-0.
Crestview finally got on the board with a Melissa Joseph goal in the 56th minute to avoid the shutout.
The Pirate defense limited Crestview to seven attempts, three of which were on goal. Bluffton goalkeeper Julia Mehaffie made two saves.
The Pirate offense peppered Crestview with 60 shots, 26 of which were on goal.
The Bluffton girls visit Riverdale (2-3) Saturday, Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. The Pirates resume NWC play at Delphos Jefferson (1-2-3, 0-1 NWC) Monday, Sept. 13.
