Men’s soccer 4-2 loss to Illinois Tech
The Bluffton University men's soccer team scored two first half goals but Illinois Tech responded with four tallies en route to the 4-2 win on Saturday, Sept. 11. The Beavers stand 1-1 on the season after a quick trip to Chicago.
Senior Dalton Taynor (Troy/Miami East) found the back of the net in minute 15 and again at the 34:31 mark, giving Bluffton a 2-0 lead over the Scarlet Hawks. Illinois Tech answered back a minute later, cutting the deficit in half and the score stood at 2-1 heading to the break.
The home team knotted it up in minute 56 before cashing in twice in the final 1:01 for a stunning 4-2 victory over the Beavers.
Taynor's four goals this week pushed him past Scott Wooldridge into 5th place on the all-time scoring list with 26 career goals.
Bluffton finished with two more shots (13-11) than the home team and the Beavers were whistled for six fewer fouls (19-13). Taynor fired five shots, while freshman keeper Angel Velasco-Urbina (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) finished with four saves.
The Beavers will be back on their home pitch for a matchup with Ohio Christian at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021.
