University women 5th at HCAC Preview
The Bluffton University women's golf team was just five strokes off its school record 346 from Saturday en route to a 5th place finish at the HCAC Preview on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021. The 351 on day two added up to a record-shattering 697 for the 36-hole tournament. The 697 was 16 strokes better than the 713 shot at UNOH in 2019.
Haley Gill (Indianapolis, IN/Franklin Central) led the way with a school record of her own. She shot an 84 on Sunday giving the junior a 169 for the tournament which was tied for 12th overall. The 176 for senior Keely Briggs (Franklin) was good for 21st at the HCAC Preview.
Marissa Hall (Avon Lake) was one stroke back with a 177, while freshmen Kiley Cline (Fostoria/Hopewell Louden) and Allie Waggener (Hilliard/Hilliard Bradley) went 183 and 186 to round out the scoring for Bluffton.
Bluffton will return to the links on Saturday, Sept. 18, when they host the Beaver Fall Classic at Bluffton Golf Club. The tournament will kick off with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.
