By Cort Reynolds

The visiting Bluffton boys soccer team handed Kenton its first loss of the season by a 2-0 count in a non-league match Thursday night, September 16.

Bluffton improved to 6-2-1 with the victory. The Wildcats dropped to 4-1-3 after suffering the defeat.

Pirate Kaden Basil scored the first goal 19:43 into the contest on an assist by Jude Spallinger. The contest stayed that way into halftime, and for the next 60 minutes after the initial tally.

Then with just 12 seconds left to play, senior Spallinger found the back of the net on an assist from Nolan Hoffman to clinch the outcome.

Bluffton put two of its eight shots on goal. Kenton got off eight shots, only one of which was on goal.

Pirate sophomore keeper Kyle Basil made one save in goal.

Bluffton (1-0 NWC) hosts county rival Allen East (1-5-1, 0-1-1 NWC) Monday, Sept. 20 as they pursue a seventh straight NWC title.

The Pirates play at local league foe Ada (2-3-3, 0-0-1 NWC) Tuesday, Sept. 28.
