University women score 2-0 shutout in West Virginia
The Bluffton University women's soccer team traveled to West Virginia for a matchup with Bethany College on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021. The Beavers netted a score in each period en route to the 2-0 shutout victory over the Bison. Bluffton improved to 3-4 on the season, while Bethany slipped to 4-3 overall.
Junior Taylor Dye (Big Prairie/West Holmes) found the back of the net for her team-best third goal of the season in minute 15. Nina McGinn (Marion/Harding) delivered a strike to Frankie Hamilton (Ashland, Ohio/Mapleton) with just over 10 minutes to play, icing Bluffton's 2-0 shutout of a quality Bison team.
Bluffton fired away with a 19-6 advantage in shots, including 12-2 on target. The visitors forced two more corner kicks (7-5), while Bethany was whistled for five more fouls (16-11).
McGinn and Katelyn Burden (Sidney) led the offense with five and four shots, respectively. Freshman Brielle Collier (Anna) notched her third victory of the season.
The Beavers travel to rival Defiance College for the Heartland Conference opener on Wednesday, Sept. 29. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. at Defiance.
