Gary Douglas Steiner worked for Proctor & Gamble
Gary Douglas Steiner, 58, passed away October 5, 2021, at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. Gary was born July 11, 1963, in Bluffton to the late Evan W. and Betty C. (Reichenbach) Steiner. On September 6, 1986, he married Brenda (Schramm) Steiner, who survives.
Gary was a graduate of Bluffton High School, had served on the Richland Township Zoning Board, and was a member of the First Mennonite Church, Bluffton. Gary could fix or build just about anything, but he was best at helping people and making them laugh. He could often be found in his garage: listening to music, tinkering with his many projects and inventions, shooting the breeze with family and friends, or just hanging with his dog, Kacey, and cat, Linc. He was also a lifelong sportsman and enjoyed quiet time in nature. Gary retired from Procter & Gamble Lima in 2019. During his 31 years at P&G he was a mentor to many and known for his tough love and mechanical brilliance. Gary was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Steiner of Bluffton; a daughter, Autumn Steiner of Sarasota, Florida; a son, Evan (Amber) Steiner of Bluffton; a brother, Daryl (Kathy) Steiner of Bluffton; his mother-in-law, Gladys (Gary) Reese of Elida; three sisters-in-law, Gloria Miller of Cairo, Sandra DeVoe of Rockford, Illinois, Mary Lynne (Bob) Dawson of Shawnee; three brothers-in-law, George (Kathy) Schramm of Columbus Grove, Steve (Nancy) Schramm of Beaverdam, Chuck Schramm of Lima; and several nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law, Arthur Schramm, brothers-in-law Greg Schramm and Terry Miller, and sister-in-law Nancy (McCafferty) Schramm.
A Celebration of Gary's Life will take place at a later date.
