Pirate girls sweep Grove
Playing at home, the Bluffton High School volleyball team took down Columbus Grove in a straight-sets Northwest Conference match Thursday evening, October 8.
The Lady Pirate record improved to 13-7 overall and 4-3 in the NWC with the 25-22, 25-19, 25-16 victory.
The Bulldogs fell to 7-10 overall and 2-4 in the NWC with the defeat.
Senior Kylie Stackhouse topped Bluffton with 16 kills and three blocks. She also served one ace. Freshman Ayla Grandey hammered 15 kills and added one block.
Senior setter Skyler Scoles passed out 29 assists and added a block. The versatile Scoles also knocked down five kills and mustered up 13 digs.
Senior Sophie Bricker hustled up a team-high 24 digs and dealt one ace.
Haelynn Bischoff came up with nine digs and one block.
Senior Kylie Monday hustled up 13 digs and served one ace.
The Pirate girls also won the JV match, 2-1.
The Lady Pirates play at local county rival Allen East (14-4, 4-3 NWC) Tuesday, Oct. 12 in the league finale. The winner will finish fourth in the nine-team conference standings.
AE beat Spencerville 3-1 Thursday night.
