Transy takes down Bluffton 2-0 in Lexington
The Bluffton University women's team battled Transylvania for 90 minutes, but the Pioneers handed Bluffton its third straight Heartland Conference setback (2-0) on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021. Transy improved to 7-3-1 overall and 2-1 in the Heartland, while Bluffton fell to 4-7 and 1-3 in the HCAC.
The home team went up 1-0 in minute 13 when Abby Baker found the back of the net and that was all Transylvania would need as the Pioneers finished with a commanding 24-2 advantage in total shots, including 11-2 on frame.
Transy forced all six corner kicks on Saturday, while Bluffton was whistled for seven more fouls (9-2). Julia Gibson (New Carlisle/Tecumseh) put both of her shot attempts on frame and freshman Brielle Collier (Anna) turned away nine Pioneer shots.
Bluffton will be back at the Sears Complex for a 3:30 p.m. meeting with Earlham College on Wednesday, Oct. 13.
