James Baumgartner was owner/operator of Baumgartner Trucking

James William Baumgartner, 91, passed away October 19, 2021 at his residence. Jim was born August 9, 1930 in Pandora to the late Elmer and Emma Viola (Vermillion) Baumgartner. On August 9, 1951 he married Marlene Berry Baumgartner.

Jim was a graduate of Pandora High School. He was owner/operator of Baumgartner Trucking, Lima. Jim had previously worked for Equity Dairies in Lima. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Bluffton, the Bluffton Lions Club where he was a past president and former pack leader for the Bluffton Boy Scout Troop 256. Jim was an avid golfer and bowler. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling and playing cards, especially euchre, hearts and bridge.  

Survivors include his wife, Marlene Baumgartner of Bluffton; three children, Gregg (Debra) Baumgartner of Findlay, Mike (Amie) Baumgartner of Medina, Ohio, Michelle (Richard) Fennell of Melbourne, Florida; nine grandchildren, Eric Baumgartner, Jason (Lindsey) Baumgartner, Daniel (Aubrey) Baumgartner, Ryan (Heather Studer) Fennell, Ashley (Tim) Rufenacht, Steve (Kendra) Baumgartner, Jim (Emily) Baumgartner, Luke Baumgartner Alexander Baumgartner; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dwight (Irene) Baumgartner of Bluffton, Ed Baumgartner of Mansfield and two sisters, Deloris Hermon and Mary Hofstetter both of Lima.

Jim was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Hermon.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 25, 2021 at First United Methodist Church, Bluffton, with Pastor Bob Clinger officiating.  Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Bluffton. Visitation will be Sunday  from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services-Bluffton.

Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church or Bridge Hospice.
