James E. King worked for Westinghouse
James E. King, 76, of Cairo, passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 5:00 a.m. at Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. He was born on January 27, 1945 in Lima to the late Milton and Marjorie {Keith} King. On May 10, 1975, he married Karen Sanders, who survives him in Cairo.
James retired from Westinghouse as a machinist. He was a member of the Lima Eagles and St. Gerard’s Catholic Church. He loved classical music and opera, reading, and riding motorcycles. He was a big movie goer, was a Sci-Fi enthusiast and loved a good Hallmark mystery movie. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them all his secrets, especially how to make his world famous “Jim’s Jam.” He was an expert bread maker which his family was also more than happy to eat. He was a long-suffering Cleveland Browns fan and enjoyed attending all his grandchildren’s events and tinkering with cars.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; daughter, Mandy (Wes) Klinger; grandchildren: Grant, Emma, Leah, and Kate Klinger; sister, Helen Rolston; and brother-in-law, Carl Gould.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert (Babett) Henkle; sisters, Evelyn Gould and Carolyn (Richard) Miller; and brother-in-law, Leroy Rolston.
His family will receive friends on Monday, October 25, 2021 from 4-8 p.m. at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home, Lima. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Gethsemani.
