Pirate Tabler named first team All-NWC gridder
Bluffton senior offensive lineman Aaron Tabler was voted first team All-Northwest Conference in voting recently conducted by the league coaches.
The Pirates finished the regular season 5-5 overall and 2-5 in the NWC.
Bluffton junior running back Landon Shutler was named to the second team All-NWC offense.
Team leading rusher and senior quarterback Nate Schaadt was voted honorable mention all-league on offense.
Pirates Kolby Chamberlin and senior Trent Howard were named honorable mention all-league on the offensive line, as was sophomore Hayden Dearth at receiver.
Honorable mention Pirate all-league picks on defense were linemen Tabler and senior Jackson Wilson, junior linebacker Kameron Coughlan and junior defensive back Beau Stever.
Wilson led the team in sacks and Stever was the top tackler.
Delphos Jefferson quarterback Colin Bailey and running back Colin Metzger of Columbus Grove earned NWC Offensive Co-Players of the Year honors.
Columbus Grove's A.J. Schafer was named league Defensive Player of the Year. Andy Schafer of champion Grove was voted NWC Coach of the Year by his peers.
Columbus Grove won the NWC title at 7-0, followed by Leipsic (6-1) in second place during their first year as a league member after replacing Paulding.
