Bluffton University women's soccer honors
The Bluffton University women's soccer team saw two players earn All-Heartland Conference honors following the 2021 fall campaign. Junior Nina McGinn (Marion/Harding) and sophomore Katelyn Burden (Sidney) were both Honorable Mention selections.
McGinn was tied for team-high honors with three goals this season. She also chipped in with an assist for a total of seven points. Her speed on the outside opened up offensive opportunities for a Bluffton squad that scored 15 times after tallying just three goals during the spring season. The dynamic junior led the Beavers with 41 shots and she netted Bluffton's only penalty kick which turned out to be the game winner in Bluffton's 1-0 victory over Manchester in the 2021 finale. She has four career goals and two assists for 10 points with one season to play.
Although she missed four matches, Burden also found the back of the net three times this fall. Burden led the Beavers with two game winners while firing 11 shots from her defender position. The talented sophomore also played a key role in Bluffton’s three shutouts in 2021.
