Vida Hilty owned Hilty's Greenhouse and Florist
UPDATED January 5. Vida Mae Hilty, 88, of Wapakoneta and formerly of Pandora, passed away January 3, 2022 at her daughter's residence. Vida was born April 23, 1933 in Bluffton to the late Harley and Alma (Agin) Diller. On November 5, 1952 she married Paul Hilty who preceded her in death on October 17, 2005.
Vida graduated from Bluffton High School. She and her husband Paul owned and operated Hilty's Greenhouse and Florist in Bluffton and she had been a nurse’s aide at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton and Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora. She was a member of the Pandora United Methodist Church, the Daughters of Mokanna and had been a Girl Scout leader. Vida enjoyed decorating, bowling, shuffleboard, and gardening and was a master gardener.
Survivors include three daughters, Susan Maze of Wapakoneta, Judi Hilty of Findlay, Jennifer (Ted) Crow of Wapakoneta; two grandchildren, Jessica and Jacob Crow and a sister, Joyce (John) Hattery of Bluffton.
Vida was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; three brothers, Robert Diller, Wilford Diller, Cleo Diller; two sisters, Aileen Binkley, Janice Fridley and a son-in-law, Ron Maze.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 10, 2022 at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton with Pastor Ruth Carter-Crist officiating. Burial will be in Pandora Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, January 9, 2022 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Auglaize County Humane Society.
