Volunteer opportunities at MHCO
Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) has announced the following volunteer opportunities, effective January 2022. MHCO requests that all new volunteers serving at MHCO to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Persons interested may contact Chris Moser, [email protected], 419-358-1015 extension 263.
Mennonite Memorial Home
Medical Transport drivers: (Licensed driver to take residents to Bluffton, Lima, Findlay doctors’ appointments)
- Volunteer drivers help take residents to appointments during the week using the MHCO handicap accessible van or 15 -passenger bus.
Our Daily Bread Mobile Meals drivers: (Licensed driver to take meals to area Bluffton community members)
- Volunteer drivers arrive at MMH at 11:00 to delivers meals. Usually takes 45 min to complete route.
Inside activities to support residents:
- Taking temperatures and Pulse Oximeter readings on assisted living elders. Once in the morning, hours 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and again late afternoon/early evening.
- Lead Worship Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m.
- Help transport elders by wheelchair to appointments for internal clinics.
- Pass out water at 2:30 p.m.
- Deliver snacks to residents at 6:30 p.m.
Willow Ridge
Inside activities:
- Play piano and or other instrument for elders
Outside work:
- Fill bird feeders weekly
Hilty Home
Inside activities:
- Taking temperatures and Pulse Oximeter readings on assisted living elders. Once in the morning, hours 9a-12p and again late afternoon/early evening.
- Lead Bible study (Tuesday and/or Thursday at 10:30 a.m.)
- Pass out water at 2:30 p.m.
- Help take elders to appointments for internal clinics and haircuts
- Play piano and or other instrument for elders
Maple Crest
Inside activities:
- Taking temperatures and Pulse Oximeter readings on assisted living elders. Once in the morning, hours 9a-12p and again late afternoon/early evening.
- Bible Study Leader: 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month in person at 3:00 pm (February and March).
