Findlay Art League hosts Chappell-Dick photo exhibit and events
The Findlay Art League has announced two public events, both live and by zoom, centered around the photograph exhibit “The Body Botanical; Twigs, Blooms and Nudes” by Wendy Chappell-Dick.
The display runs through the month of January at the Findlay Art League. 117 W Crawford St, Findlay. Hours are Tuesday-Friday 12 - 5:30 p.m., Saturday 12- 4pm. The exhibit is described as "rated PG13 for liberal parents and R for more conservative."
From 7-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 20, Chappell-Dick will give an informal concert, accompanied by warm drinks. A folk musician and artist, Chappell-Dick has been performing in northwest Ohio for over 30 years. She plays guitar and is planning a program of traditional folk and contemporary acoustic songs. “This is the perfect way to warm up,” says Chappell-Dick, “surrounded by images of a naked woman in her sunny garden, with a warm cup of tea in your hand, and with those sweet old folk songs to warm your heart.”
From 7-8 p.m. on Thursday January 27, Chappell-Dick will present a lecture on Zoom and in the gallery in person. She says, “If I were to describe what my photographs mean, my most ambitious answer is that I create empowered, exuberant art celebrating nature and the human body. My photographic career is still young. I started with pure instinct, with little training or knowledge. However, I know that I am not unique in these instincts. Three women stand out as touchstones: Anne Brigman, Imogen Cunningham and Francesca Woodman.”
To receive a zoom link, RSVP to [email protected] and specify which event you would like to attend.
Objects of Desire Gift Shop will be open for business during these events. The gallery notes: "We will wear masks and spread the chairs out for social distancing."
