Bluffton girls hold off Lancers, 60-50
The Bluffton High School girls basketball team built a big first period lead and held off visiting Lincolnview 60-50 in a Northwest Conference battle Thursday evening, January 20. View at https://youtu.be/I7KBA3bITkY.
The Lady Pirates improved to 13-4 overall and 3-2 in the NWC with the win. Lincolnview fell to 5-11 and 1-4 in the NWC with the loss.
Bluffton led 21-5 after the first period as senior Kylie Monday scored seven points. The Lancers rallied with a 19-12 second stanza behind seven points from Addysen Stevens.
The Pirate girls held a 51-40 margin heading to the final period after Monday netted eight of the 18 Bluffton third stanza points.
Pirate Riley Eachus tallied six fourth quarter markers to help keep Lincolnview at bay.
Monday led the victors with a season-high 19 points. Eachus netted 13 with two trifectas. Senior point guard Sami Scoles and freshman 6-2 post Ayla Grandey each contributed 10 points.
Pirate senior post Kylie Stackhouse added eight markers.
Stevens led the Lancers with a dozen points. Zadria King tallied 11 markers, while Makayla Jackman added eight.
Lancers Kendall Bollenbacher and Carsyn Looser chipped in with seven points apiece.
The Pirates sank 28 baskets, including 25 two-pointers and three three-point goals. Bluffton converted one of five free throws (20 percent).
The Lancer girls sank 21 total field goals. Lincolnview hit 17 two-point attempts and four triples.
Lincolnview connected on four of its eight free throws (50 percent).
