Great Backyard Bird Count hike at Quarry Farm
UPDATED FEB. 19: This event has been cancelled due to flooding.
Each February, the National Audubon Society and Cornell Lab of Ornithology coordinate the Great Backyard Bird Count. The Quarry Farm Nature Preserve & Conservation Farm, rural Pandora, invites you to bring your binoculars and join in the count at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 19.
Participants will record the species that the group is able to identify as they walk the nature preserve. All recorded species will be submitted to the international count as part of the largest snapshot of global bird populations.
Participants are asked to wear good, warm, water repellent walking shoes and to dress for the weather. If the actual temperature is in the single digits, the hike will be cancelled. Meet at The Quarry Farm’s Seitz Family Pavilion, 1/8 mile north of 14321 Road 7L, Pandora. Admission is free but donations are appreciated.
