Second COVID-19 booster doses are available
Allen County Public Health has issued the following update:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently updated its recommendations to allow certain people who are immunocompromised and people age 50 and older to get another Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech booster at least 4 months after their last dose to increase their protection against severe disease from COVID-19. In addition, adults who received their first vaccine and booster of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least 4 months ago may also receive a second booster dose using the Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.
Haven’t received your COVID-19 vaccine or first booster dose yet? Scientific evidence suggests that everybody who is eligible should get the vaccine or first booster shot. “The bottom line,” said Allen County Public Health Commissioner Brandon Fischer, “is that getting a vaccine or booster shot may save your life.”
Allen County Public Health is using the gettheshot.coronavirus.ohio.gov online scheduling tool for COVID-19 vaccine appointments. COVID-19 vaccine appointments are available at the health department on Mondays and Fridays from 9-11:15 a.m. and 1-3:30 p.m. For help with the online scheduling, please call 1-833-4-ASK-ODH (1-833-427-5634).
