Funeral arrangements for Nancy C. Hochstettler
Nancy C. Hochstettler was welcomed into heaven by her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 20, 2022. Nancy was born on March 30, 1941, in Battle Creek, Michigan to the late Carl Weers and Audrey (Sanders) Wendt. Nancy graduated from Grossmont High School in California and after returning to Michigan attended Delta College for a business degree.
Nancy was blessed with three wonderful men in her life. She married her high school sweetheart, Thomas E. Sian on July 25, 1959 and raised four children. They were active in church, sports, loved to camp and take family trips. Her favorite trips were packing the family into the station wagon and heading across the country to visit her brothers in Arizona/California. Tom passed away October 14, 1983. A couple years later, Nancy married George K. Greminger on September 21, 1985. She and George loved to travel and experienced many wonderful places together. He passed away on December 2, 2008. On April 9, 2011, Nancy married Dale Hochstettler of Bluffton. They also loved traveling until their health did not allow it and hosting family and friends for game nights.
Nancy was a devoted Christian with a servant's heart. She served her church as a pianist, Sunday school teacher, youth leader, and finance assistant. Nancy was also a gifted artist with many paintings and drawings of places and people she loved, hanging on her walls. She loved to play softball, volleyball and tennis, playing these sports well into her 60s. When she could no longer play, she was always supporting a grandchild at one of their games.
Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and will truly be missed by her husband, Dale; her children, Debbie (Bob) Deitsch, Sandy (Todd) Dunbar, Mike (Julie) Sian and Chris (Ken) Longstreth; her grandchildren, Brandon (Christi) Deitsch, Jenny (Jordan) Schaefer, Kelli Fellows, Tom (Melissa) Dunbar, Marji Dunbar, Mike (Courtney) Harris, Kayla (Luke) Harrison, Larissa Sian, Tyler (Heidi) Sian, and Chelsea (Rodney Thompson) Longstreth; 14 great-grandchildren and 7 step-children that she deeply cared about. She is also survived by her siblings, Fred (Sherry) Weers, Steve (Cherri) Weers, and Merleen (Gary) Foster.
Nancy's family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Laurus Home Care and Hospice at Independence Village for providing her with loving support and care.
Funeral services for Nancy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street. The Rev. Dr. Wallace H. Mayton III will officiate with graveside burial rites in Midland Cemetery. Nancy's family will receive friends at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home on Monday, May 23, from 4-7 p.m., and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Per Nancy's wishes, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Laurus Home Care or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Condolences to the family may be made online at www.waresmithwoolever.com
