Photo time machine presentations on Fred Steiner's calendar
Register in advance at 419-358-5016 or stop by the library
Fred Steiner will present a time machine tour of Bluffton going back over 140 years in a Bluffton Public Library summer reading program at 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 19, in the lower level of the library.
In a Power Point presentation, the program features dozens of photos taken by Bluffton pioneer photographer Will Triplett from the 1890s to 1920s-era.
Steiner will provide a “how to read a photo” commentary, showing how the photos were composed and he will point out some not-so-obvious elements in the photos.
Several Bluffton then-and-now photos, showing scenes from early Bluffton compared with the same scene today are part of the program.
The program is free and open to the public. The library asks that persons register in advance by calling the library at 419-358-5016 or stopping in the library, located at 145 S. Main St., Bluffton.
Steiner will give a similar program to youth in the Bluffton Family Recreation summer camp on July 25. He will present a photo lecture in Bluffton to members of the Van Wert Lincoln Highway Association on the Dillinger bank robbery on Aug. 16. On Aug. 23 he will present that program to the members of the Eagle Creek Historical Organization (ECHO), in Jenera. Both those programs are open to the public.
