Camp Lakota and Camp Berry earn 2022 accreditation
In June, two Boy Scout camps in the Black Swamp Area Council recieved annual accreditation for 2022: Camp Lakota, located in Defiance, and Camp Berry in Findlay.
Hardin County is in the Great Oaks District of the Black Swamp Council area.
The Boy Scouts of America National Camp Accreditation Process (NCAP) is designed to help local councils elevate their camps to new levels of excellence. A rigorous review of camps and properties includes 136 different standards that cover everything from program design, staff qualifications, health and safety to facilities.
James Kern, the team visitation leader for Camp Berry, stated “Camp Director Jammie Jones and his staff have done a great job of providing a quality program and giving the youth attending a wonderful and meaningful experience in the tradition of the BSA.”
Bruce Boyle, team lead for the Camp Lakota visitation, stated “it was our privilege to visit camp which we greatly enjoyed while seeing Scouting at it’s finest. We expect that Camp Lakota will have a great program this summer.”
