Pirates blank Redskins in girls soccer opener

WAPAKONETA⎯On August 23, the visiting Bluffton High School girls soccer team shut out Wapakoneta 4-0 to win its season opener handily.
Sami Scoles scored in the 29th and 58th minutes to pace the Pirate girls to victory.
Karson Hauenstein started the scoring with a goal in the seventh minute. Allison Diller netted the final Pirate goal in the 76th minute.
Hauenstein doled out two assists, to Scoles and Diller. Ella Armstrong added an assist on the first Scoles goal.
Bluffton put 14 of its 19 shots on goal. Meanwhile Wapak mustered six shots, four on goal.
Pirate keeper Julie Mehaffie was credited with four saves.
The Pirate girls (1-0) visit Bath in another non-league game Saturday, August 27, at noon.
