Pirate girls soccer blanks Coldwater

The Bluffton High School girls soccer team swamped visiting Coldwater 6-0 on Saturday night, September 3, in a non-league match.
Sami Scoles netted a hat trick to pace the Pirate offense. She scored right away in the second minute on an assist from Allison Diller. Diller then found the back of the net in the 10th minute, and the Pirates carried a 2-0 lead into halftime.
Scoles scored her second goal two minutes into the second half on a feed from Ella Armstrong. The duo teamed up again two minutes later for another Scoles goal, her third, from Armstrong.
Armstrong then tallied a goal on a pass from Karson Hauenstein to provide a 5-0 margin. Riley Eachus scored unassisted in the 79th minute for the final goal.
The lopsided victory lifted the Pirate season record to 5-0. Coldwater fell to 3-3 with the defeat.
The Pirate girls fired 17 of their 24 shots on goal. The Cavaliers got off just two shots, both on goal. Pirate keeper Julia Mehaffie made two saves in goal, while the Cav keeper was credited with 10 stops.
Bluffton (1-0 NWC) plays at Crestview (2-3, 0-0 NWC) Tuesday, Sept. 6 in a league bout.
