Bluffton girls edged by Riverdale soccer

The Bluffton High School girls soccer team lost a defensive 1-0 battle to visiting Riverdale in a non-league match Saturday, September 10.
The close defeat dropped the Pirate record to 6-2, while Riverdale improved to 2-3-1 with the victory.
Falcon Maya Frey scored in the 10th minute to put the visitors ahead. Neither team was able to dent the net again over the final 70 minutes of play.
The Pirate girls directed 10 of their 12 shots on goal. The Falcons fired five of their nine shots on goal.
Pirate goalkeeper Julia Mehaffie made four saves, while Falcon keeper Anjelina Sierra was credited with 10 stops.
After a week off from match play, Bluffton plays at WBL foe Kenton (6-2) Saturday, Sept. 17.
