Bluffton University has named Brian Williams to the newly created position of Esports coordinator. He will be responsible for the overall direction of Esports at Bluffton including planning, coaching, recruiting and managing the co-ed Esports program, which will be Bluffton's 19th varsity sport starting in the 2023-24 academic year.
A 2022 graduate of Miami University (Ohio) in interactive media studies, Williams was a member of Miami University Varsity Esports. He was the R6 founder and game manager from September 2018 to August 2021 and helped grow the Rainbow Six: Siege Esports community, at both the varsity and club level, to more than 150 active members. As game manager, he led all day-to-day operations, long-term strategic planning, managed roster changes and scheduling, and organized local and online community events.
From September through November 2021, Williams helped progress the MSI Student Radiant Cup, a competitive, professional collegiate tournament in coordination with MSI and Space Productions with a sponsored prize pool. His first day in the new Bluffton University position is Nov. 14.
