Sandra J. Garmatter worked for the Bluffton school district
Sandra J. Garmatter, 83, passed away February 7, 2023 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Bluffton. Sandy was born July 17, 1939 in Bowling Green to the late Loren and Margaret (McGuire) Bassitt. On October 31, 1959 she married Leland Garmatter who preceded her in death on August 21, 2015.
Sandy was a graduate of Beaverdam High School. She retired from Bluffton Schools where she was a secretary. Sandy was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bluffton. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include five children, Jacqui (Mel) Benroth of Columbus Grove, Scott (Kim) Garmatter of Bluffton, Eric (Julie) Garmatter of Bluffton, Jill (Tony) Rumer of Bluffton, Curt Garmatter of Columbus Grove; her grandchildren, Ryan (Liz) Benroth, Jacob Garmatter, Joshua Garmatter, Adrian (Austin) Bricker, Bret (Madeline) Rumer, Averey Rumer, Baylor Garmatter, Brinkley Garmatter, Laykin Garmatter, Klarissa Garmatter, Kalyn Garmatter, Karsyn Garmatter, Cade Garmatter, Darby (Jen) Benroth, Jori (Ryan) Shoemaker; her great-grandchildren, Owen and Addi Shoemaker, Bodey, Barrett Benroth, Ayden and Ainsley Benroth, Valery, Lincoln and Vanna Rumer, Haven Bricker; a brother, Bill (Nancy) Bassitt of Wapakoneta and a sister, Sally (Roger) Fruchey of Columbus Grove.
Sandy was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas "Skip" Bassitt, Richard "Rocket" Bassitt and a sister, Susan Henline.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Bluffton with Pastor Jeremy Mann officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Emmanuel United Church of Christ or Bridge Home Health and Hospice.
