Pirate baseball tames North Baltimore

The Bluffton boys baseball team defeated visiting North Baltimore 15-2 in the season opener Monday evening.

The Pirates jumped in front 2-0 after the first inning. The hosts then blew the game open with a seven-run second frame.

Bluffton tacked on five more runs in the third inning to build a 14-2 cushion.

They added one more run in the home fourth to close the scoring. 

The game was called after 4.5 innings due to the 10-run rule.

The Pirates out-hit NB 13-3, all singles.

Center fielder Braeden Jordan scored four runs out of the leadoff spot. He hit two singles and drove in two more runs.

Garret Bogart collected three hits, three runs and three RBI to go with three steals. Gavin Bogart had two hits, scored three runs and drove in one run. 

Landen Worcester amassed two hits, two RBI and one run with one steal. Luke Jebsen compiled three runs, two hits, two RBI and two stolen bases.

Tyler Cupples pitched a five-inning complete game to earn the win. He struck out four and allowed one earned run on three hits. He threw 78 pitches, 52 for strikes.

Bluffton (1-0) plays at Carey Friday, then visits Liberty-Benton (2-0) Saturday.
