Pirate softball downs Vanlue

VANLUE–Visiting Bluffton High School won a non-league softball game at Vanlue 9-6 Wednesday night, March 29.
The Pirates are 1-0, while the Wildcats are 0-1.
Winning pitcher Hannah Davis (1-0) smacked a solo home run, and she struck out seven and allowed four earned runs in seven innings.
Olivia Hobensack drilled a double, triple and scored four runs to pace the eight-hit Pirate attack. She also drove in two runs.
Vanessa Cross contributed two doubles and scored three runs and added two RBI.
Vanlue knocked out six doubles among its nine hits. Saltzman hit two doubles and a triple. King homered.
Bluffton is slated to play at Ottawa-Glandorf (0-1) Thursday and at Carey Friday. The Pirates are scheduled to host St. Marys (0-1) in a doubleheader Saturday at 11 a.m.
