Joan Basinger was a secretary
Joan Basinger, 92, went home to be with her heavenly father on April 24, 2023, at her home.
Joan was born March 10, 1931 in Hancock County, to Wallace and Enid (Matteson) Keller who preceded her in death. On June 18, 1950 she married Alfred Basinger who preceded her in death on February 13, 2023.
She was a graduate of Rawson High School where she was a cheerleader. She was a member of Pandora United Methodist Church and worked as a secretary for Reese Insurance and Stacey Insurance before her retirement. She was a member of the Asi Na Mas Club of Bluffton. She loved to cook, bake, go mushroom hunting, fishing, and tend to her flower garden. She always had a soft spot for animals, especially kittens. Joan had a tender heart and kind soul, and was a second mother to many. She especially loved her family dearly.
Survivors include her four children, Valerie (Paul) Nusbaum of Pandora, Christine (Thomas) Meyer of Rawson, Brent (Stephanie) Basinger of Rawson, Jenny Wilson of Aubrey, Texas; nine grandchildren, Rachel, Ryan, Heidi, Joe, Molly, Abby, Alexandrea, Lydia, Raven; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Mary Lou (Jim) Lewis and George (Karel) Keller.
She was preceded in death by, a great-granddaughter, Addison Meyer; and two siblings Carol Jean Reddick, and Wendel Keller.
Services will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 10:30 am at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services of Bluffton with Pastor Ruth Carter-Crist to officiate the service. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be Friday, April 28, 2023, 2:00-4:00 p.m .& 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.and
