June JAMPD programs: Magic, day camp, crochet and animal Olympics

JUNE 10
Gordon The Magician will perform at the Ottawa Metro Park Amphitheater, 2632 Ada Rd., Lima at 7:00 p.m. 0n Sat., June 10. The summer program is hosted by the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District. 

Gordon and his trusty sidekick, George the Raccoon, have traveled the globe in  search of smiles, laughs, and fun. A master of audience involvement, Gordon “invents” magic on the spot using the most ordinary items imaginable. Couple this with a limitless  array of tried-and-true tricks of the trade, and you have a performance that is second to  none.

JUNE 12-16
Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will be teaming with Rhodes State College  to offer Outdoor Explorers Day Camp for grades 2-4: “Together we will enjoy bugs, mud, critters, and plants with this hands-on, minds-on  experience. We’ll make art, play music, do math, build critter shelters, learn to be safe,  respectful, and most importantly, get outside in nature.”

The camp schedule is June 12-16 from  8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. or 12:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m.

JUNE 17
On Saturday, June 17, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will offer a Chunky Crochet Blanket Workshop at the Park Office  Conference Room, 1682 Slabtown Rd. Lima.

Cost of the workshop is $12.00 plus you will need to bring your own 6-8 skeins of yarn for this workshop. This will make an adult size blanket. Class size is limited. Register by calling 419-221-1232 or online at www.jampd.com

JUNE 17
On Saturday, June 17, from 1:00-3:00 p.m., Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District will offer Animal Olympics at the Mclean Teddy Bear Park, 2004 N. Dixie  Hwy. Lima.

How long can you hold your breath? How long are you able to stand on one leg with your eyes closed? How long can you stare without blinking? Stop by the McLean Teddy  Bear Park anytime between 1:00-3:00 p.m. to compete against different wild animals (not live) to see who will win the gold medal. No registration required.
